Fashion trade, multibillion-dollar global enterprise devoted to the business of constructing and promoting clothes. Some observers distinguish between the style business (which makes “high fashion”) and the attire industry (which makes odd clothes or “mass fashion”), but by the 1970s the boundaries between them had blurred. Fashion is greatest defined simply because the fashion or styles of clothes and niknaks worn at any given time by teams of individuals. There could look like differences between the costly designer fashions proven on the runways of Paris or New York and the mass-produced sportswear and avenue kinds offered in malls and markets around the world.
